WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation today announced that General Motors would receive its Corporate Leadership Award this summer.
DETROIT – The General Motors Foundation is donating $1 million among three Detroit charities in honor of GM’s former Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson and his wife Karin. The donations to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity Detroit and the Coalition On Temporary Shelter, or COTS, further the GM Foundation’s and the Akersons’ commitment to making a difference in GM’s headquarters city.
DETROIT – The General Motors Foundation is donating $400,000 to support cancer research conducted by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. The grant celebrates Karmanos’ 32nd Annual Dinner and brings to nearly $7.3 million the combined contributions from the GM Foundation and GM over the last 17 years.

DETROIT – The General Motors Foundation is donating $150,000 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving to expand prevention education initiatives and provide support services to victims of drunk driving crashes and their families.

DETROIT – One in four parents and caregivers responding to a Safe Kids Worldwide survey said they have driven without making sure their children are safely secured in vehicles.
DETROIT – The GM Foundation is donating $100,000 to aid the Central Park Conservancy’s “Keeping it Green” service learning program to introduce pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students to the importance of preserving and caring for New York City’s Central Park.
DETROIT – Communities and nonprofits across the country will receive a helping hand from General Motors’ employee volunteers from September 9-13 as part of the company’s second annual “teamGM Cares Week.” From packing food and building homes to cleaning up beaches and neighborhoods, approximately 75 projects will be undertaken.
DETROIT – The General Motors Foundation donated $50,000 to the National Park Foundation to help fund the 50th anniversary commemoration of the historic 1963 March on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
SHANGHAI – General Motors and its joint ventures sold 257,770 vehicles in China during February, setting a new record for the month. Sales increased 19.9 percent from 215,070 vehicles sold in the same month last year.
