DETROIT – The 2013 Buick Encore ranked highest in the Sub-Compact CUV segment in the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM released today. More than 10,000 of the compact crossovers have been delivered since going on sale earlier this year – nearly half to customers coming from brands outside of General Motors.
As a whole, the Buick brand outperformed the industry average of 113 problems per 100 vehicles. The Enclave crossover and Regal sedan each ranked among the top three in their respective segments.
“It’s a rare achievement to have an all-new vehicle in its launch year rank highest in initial quality,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick Marketing. “Recognizing the Encore as a segment leader demonstrates the effort and attention to detail given by our engineers and designers and expected by luxury customers.”
The 2013 IQS is based on responses from more than 83,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2013 model year vehicles surveyed at 90 days of ownership. The study includes a 233-question survey designed to provide manufacturers with information they can use to quickly identify problems and drive improvement.
